Greetings friends!

There's some great stuff on the site here.. but not a huge amount of traffic it looks like (sadly).

I know I'm the new guy.. but I wondered if I could ask and see who's around to "check in"?

:)

hi john

can't sleep.  it is just after 2 in the a.m. here down in the deep south of florida.  yeah ... traffic has slacked off a LOT this past year especially.  not sure what that is all about, but we just take things as they are.

it is great to have you join us here.

Hi folks, thanks for the notes!

There's another site or two I peruse some.. traffic there is becoming odd there too.

It seems some are being called to take time apart from the web, that could be one of many things.

Hey cool, more people chiming in. :)

Thanks for the posts!

It strikes me as good, perhaps, that a smaller group of well knit people is better in many regards than a mob of strangers.

In other endeavors I quickly learned it's better to have 5 sheep than 50 goats. :)

on another note, I heard one guy testify about leaving "churchy" things behind (he was the pastor), and when he started going on the real truths.. well most of his people left to find places where others would console them and "tickle their ears".
"Goats shifting pens", he called it. Too sad to be funny, to funny to be sad, that.

Hey, can I chime in again? Does that count?

The shack has always been a small group, even though there are many more signed up. However, there have been times where just a few more active members could make this place move so fast your head would spin!!

Jim

Yep, I've seen that on other sites too Jim. (a few hearty people talking as a group)
It's great stuff really.

oh yeah.. chiming in again counts - if you want it to - you're the "boss", yes? :D

Oh no, it only counts if you agree that it counts!!   I may be the one who hosts the web site, as well as being one of those who encourage discussion around Christ and his life and grace, but I don't do "boss" very well at all. I've also been asked why after almost 20 years at my current job that I'm not the boss yet. Yeah, I get that all the time. Just something in me doesn't envy the position ... nor the hours that would go along with it.

Jim

Well hey Jim.. if you run the site, then your the Boss.. wouldn't you agree?

Of course I agree with the boss. So it counts?

... all this agreeing is making my head spin....

.

About day jobs....
If you're like me, sitting at a desk isn't at the top of the priority list. So that eliminates being a supervisor.

of course...

If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted. :)

.

I think I stayed up too late late night.. I'm silly today.

This is a true statement.there have been many times
where some have come on the site with agendas and
desires to make sure their particular point of
understanding not only would be heard but that it be
understood that they were the only ones that were
right. during those times,i have wished jim would
"boss" them right off but instead jim lets
discussions flow through those times so that
ultimately the life of Christ comes through the
dynamic of those here.
one could not fill one hand
with the # of times jim has stopped them from
speaking.on the other
hand,you would have difficulty
counting the total # of times that real life flows
not from the "boss" of the group but from the BOSS
of the group through those that sometimes congregate
here.

That's a good observation mcdave. I've dabbled in forum moderation/administration too, it's not pretty sometimes.

Another few aspects of keeping "headstrong" people on board is that it also shows the hearts of everyone else too, including the staff.
It also teaches us how to work with various problems and doctrines. I don't think two years of propa skoolin' could cram that much info in a person, as a few months overseeing a couple hundred people with wildly different views.

Kudos to Jim for staying the course. (and putting up with my jokes thus far. heh)

If/When even one soul is really changed - well - it's all worth it, yes?

Just bumping my lil thread here. Checking in. :)

God sent me a new job... and that's good... but lots
of overtime and night shift is keeping me pretty tied
up.

Been enjoying reading some here and there, good up the
good works.
