I just discovered
that if you hold down the <Shift>
key while pressing <Enter>
you can get single spacing
rather than double spacing

as demonstrated here.

What browser are you using?  I use IE and don't remember any problems with it ... though the truth of the matter is that I rarely use buttons for copy and paste but instead "Ctrl + C" and "Ctrl + V" so I may not have noticed.
