Hello Shacksters!

I've been offline for a while. In December, my 17-year-old son got into heavy drugs. We struggled for a few months with escalating problems with him until he and a friend broke into our house and stole some stuff... including my laptop. He was arrested a few days later and sent to youth jail. Since I wouldn't bring him home, his lawyer forced child & family services to take him and they put him in rehab - something I couldn't make him do. I visit him every couple of weeks and our relationship seems to have improved. He's so much nicer when he's not completely obsessed with drugs!

The crazy thing is how God was suddenly so much more "real" to me during the few weeks before the break in and how he has carried me through... and how other people have seen him doing his God-thing in me through the whole thing. And how God can somehow give me joy in the midst of heart-rending pain...

It's already time for me to head out the door to work, but I wanted to thank you for posting this. I fully appreciate what you're saying about the joy that comes in the midst of heartache. I'm with you, my sister! :)
