Hello Dave.  If you're out there I wanted to thank you for the following you wrote in a trhead of Nov. '85 (Confused????).

"I'm really glad you decided to check out the shovel, if only to find more rest and peace in your life  I was told the same thing by some of my friends.  they told me to stay away from the this site because it was dangerous.  You know whats funny??  I would have called most here heretics because of what is being said.  Yet, the Lord was slowly revealing to me His Grace and His Life over the years, that when I came to this site it was just an affirmation of what He had been showing me all along.  Truth be told, no one would probably even accept what is being said here if Christ were not in them opening their eyes to the reality of His Grace.  Christ goes against all this world's logic and intellect.  Christ is a stumbling block to the religous mindset.  So of course, to the religous mindset, this place is DANGEROUS!!  But, to one who has been awakened to the aroma of Christ...this place is like a sweet haven of rest.  Praise God that we can stand on Christ and Christ alone!"

Much of what you have written on various threads connects with me, bro.  Thanks.

thanx tim for posting this ... it was very encouraging this morning.  i am so happy to have both of you come into our lives.  i am thankful to be able to enjoy christ and each other together here in the 'shack of heresy'.

i love how dave talked about AFFIRMATION as to what christ had been revealing in him all along.  i so relate with that.  and i so love it when that happens ... affirmations in christ, concerning christ, because of christ, etc.

we love christ ... we love the contrast of his love and freedom and all that he is as opposed to the bondages and abuses of religion and the reasonings of the world that are against us.  we love how he is all he is in us and manifests himself in us, to us, through us, with us, etc.

hugs

Thanks, Sherri.  Your affirmations of/from/in/ Christ are appreciated, too.

We're well, Sher.  Thanks for asking.
Our youngest daughter (of our four kids) is about ready to graduate from high school and join her siblings in college.  So, we are planning to spend next year in the States taking care of various things.

I am thankful for the Shovel and the Shack as a place to go for a cool drink of water.

ummm ... i am really slow on the uptake and processing, but ... does that mean that you will be here when all who can will possibly meet in october?     still, if you can't make it to that, we can still try to meet up together another time another place.

which one of the states will you be in for the year?  maybe we can meet somewhere around it or half way in-between us if the october thing doesn't work out.

keep us posted.

Most of our time will be in Minnesota.  Where will everyone meet in October?

no prob there dear mcmary ... really ... nothing set in stone yet.     still pondering and listening to the requests, suggestions and options from others.  colorado is a big temptation for jim and i but we do not know who all is willing and able to go that far.  just need some more feedback still.  october is a ways away still, so no big stress yet as far as cementing 'the plan'.  maybe by the end of may or early june we should know more or make it more definitive.

Wow, more people are close to Colorado!     Sherri, I know what you mean about what would be easier for most people.   Just to let you all know, Dave and I would definitely aim to get to either location, whichever that would be!

Sherri,

Do you guys think you might have flexibility on when you can gather? Or does October look like the only time Jim's work will allow it?[or other stuff] Just checking...

jim does have limited vacation time ... we generally choose the fall to vacation so that we can go somewhere different and opposite to the weather of heat we have already endured for so many months ... ya know, to cool down our inner core so to speak.  but jim is far more flexible and adaptable.  i will not speak for him.  he can chime in here if he is so compelled.

speaking from myself and the body i have to endure in, i have always wanted to visit the mountains, pine and aspen forests of colorado ... hike in the cool, fresh air.  summer time in colorado in 80 degree temperatures and/or higher does NOT appeal to me at all in the least, however ... to be able to spend some time with you guys would be wonderful and i could stay indoors in the air conditioning if i must.  i just wither in the heat. i get weak in the brain and the stomach.  why do i live in south florida? because this is where my hubby is.   LOL  i am not much better or of any use when i get too cold either.  jim will tell you.  but we have had great fun hiking in the fall and winter weather of the appalachians.

so, i can be flexible and sacrificial just for a chance to be with you all.  however, keep in mind also that our dear dave s also has an aversion to the heat and was very much looking forward to meeting in the fall.  so you have still 2 specific votes for the fall if at all possible.

i do not want to miss a chance to meet up with tim tho'.  i don't think we will be heading up to russia any time soon.

so, i don't know if that is much help at all, but ...  there it is for now.

need more input ... more input ...

I hear ya Sher,

I prefer not to be in heat either , especially humidity. For some reason just the slightest humidity gets me whacky. Anyhow..it is pretty cool here even on warm days to me only because I came from CA..were it it would get 116 in the valley. Yuck!!! Smog too!! Lot's of fires! Yucka!

I so wish to see you all. Hope we can find something that works.

Thanks for considering me, but my plans are too tentative right now, so go ahead and do what's best for the rest.

nothing in stone yet ... waiting until about may i think to cement final plans ... will your plans still be tentative by then, tim?

we WANT to meet you, tim and your wife!  i want to hug your necks and i will just be so happy to see you in real live persons!!   of course, if neck hugging is a no no for you, i will respect that, but consider yourselves hugged anyway.

i want to say again, that we have no expectations of or from anyone.  just to see each other and be together as we can.  we can share whatever comes to heart and mind, or nothing at all ... just be or do something together.  having the life of god within us tho' i bet we will  have plenty to converse about, but ... truly ... no worries ... no expectations.  just a lot of hope that whoever CAN come will, and whoever really WANTS to come but cannot financially will speak up and MAYBE and prayerfully we can figure out a way to get ya there with us.

no one has to put on any 'spiritual faces',  'spiritual garb', use 'spiritual language' or have ANY 'spiritual' expectations of or from anyone.  no one ever even has to pray - outloud or any other way.     some love to pray out loud, some love to pray quietly, and some prefer totally privately (like me), altho' really my 'prayer life' is more like meek spoke of earlier ... more like an open ended all day all night conversation.  it never really ends.  i don't consider myself talking to myself, for the spirit of god is always connected and on the wire (phone) and i blather on about all things any thing and every thing.  so there is freedom either and any way.  no one has to worry about one being more 'spiritual' than the other or less 'spiritual' than the other.  we are spiritual for only ONE reason and that is because of the spirit of god in christ jesus.  no other reason.  we are spiritual because we have the spirit of god.

there is no competition and no expectations of any kind for anyone to fill any particular bills so to speak, such as being a 'spiritual giant' or a 'spiritual midget' or anything in between.

it is much more like people discovering that they have siblings in other parts of the country and the world that they never knew they had, and now they have an opportunity to meet up in person and get to know one another, or just spend a little time together.

i am excited and looking forward to it.  i am just hoping and praying nothing interrupts or prevents it ... but regardless, we know god's will is done in our lives no matter what, so ... all is well and that is that.

please everyone (and yes, those who have not even spoken up yet) do keep updating on availabilities and preferences and suggestions up to the time we actually cement everything.
