One reason I was kicked out of the first and last IC that I was involved with was that I wouldn't sign their "covenant". It was doctrinally a baptist church. The covenant was a bunch of promises to the body and leaders(of course one of them being tithing). It wasn't for salvation though. They ruled with fear and control much like a cult. I sat under their pew for a short time and learned only one thing - that I wouldn't learn a thing from them. Believe me, I tried but it was all so empty. I am now considered a black sheep by them, especially since I believe in universal reconciliation through Jesus.

Thanks for sharing. Such a blessing to be free.

What do you see when you look at me? Not the visible me that your eyes can see. For in Christ I am dead, yet alive and free. Free to be it all, as he lives in me.

My pleasure! I love being FREE!!!!! nothing and no one can now enslave us since we "know the truth and the truth has set us free". Jesus - "The Truth". Jesus - "The Word Made Flesh".

Tree, we went to a Baptist church for over 10 years so I understand what you mean. We also found there were people there who loved Jesus more than anything, and I have one dear friend 10 years later who I still love dearly and we get together. It doesn't matter where you are, the organized one or the home one, you will find there are issues. The Lord has to show us that HE ALONE IS ENOUGH, no one else, and no fellowship will do it. ONLY HIM. It can be a lonely, confusing time but until he shows us that, we won't ever be happy, it will just be another social group we get along with, without so many rules about this or that. And that isn't what His body is about so in His grace, he rips it apart--my experience anyway.  God knows what each of us need to look to Him only. He is jealous for our love.

Hey Nyagali - you don't know what you are talking about - JUST KIDDING!!! YOU ARE DEAD ON!!!! and you summed it up perfectly.... HE ALONE IS ENOUGH... I learned this even before I began fellowshiping at that place and it is still real to me 17 years later. Thanks for posting on my little thread here - Tree
