John 5:19
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. KJV

John 5:30
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.KJV

John 8:28-29
8 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.KJV

My question which had to be shortened....Does Jesus do it all in us or do we have a part?

It would be interesting to see what God has revealed personally to those in the shovel shack in regards to these verses.

The way God has made it real in my life is that if Jesus could do nothing of himself without the Father, can I expect to do anything without Him?  Yet, as "I Hear" works are happening.....not my works....but Jesus in and through me.  Therein lies the "rest" from my labouring!

I am not wanting to create any arguments in this question, just what God has revealed in you.  Thanks!

Hi Susie and welcome to the shack.I'll take a crack at this.I do confess that my first and formost answer to the question "Does Jesus do it all?" is yes.
Of course we live in a reality of time and space that we move through where each day each moment we "do" things but ultimately the only answer can be, that in the scope of eternity, our only job is not to do but to be, and that being is only in Him.

a few scripture verses that come to mind.

Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." This is the verse that drives how i look at everything else. a lifetime can be spent to fully comprehend all that it means.when i get to that place i'll let everyone know but thanks to God i am on the path

Ephesians 2:8-10 "8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."A bit of a paradox here both totally true and yet seemingly contradictory

John 6 26:29" 26Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

28Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"

29Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." " This is the place of rest for me when all else doesn't make sense.

These few verses encauspulate my thoughts on not just what Jesus does versus what we do.it embodies to me who I am as a believer(lol well there are a few more things i could share but not today lest  cause my own words to take away from the simplicity of the good news So , again welcome welcome.you will find many different personalities here at the shack.from the deepest thought to the most simple truth but at it's heart, the shack is a place where friends share with each other a little taste of the journey that life in Christ brings to us.
