This movie has become my new favorite movie of all time, well next to The Shawshank Redemption. I won't go in to what it is about in case you want to check it out, but I will say that it moved me profoundly. There is a scene in the movie where Helen Hunt (who produced, directed and starred in this movie - and there is a great story there about how this came to be) - anyway, where Helen Hunt is in an extremely vunerable position and she is heartbroken over an apparrant betrayal by God (Him not giving something her heart ached for). She doesn't want to pray and she says to Bette Midler with tears streaming down her face, "I thought God was good." Bette Midler responds, "Maybe he's difficult, awful complicated." Helen Hunt says, "Like me?" And in that instant her pre-concieved notions and bitterness towards God just melts and she prays. I can't explain the power in that moment and I don't know if anyone else would experience that when they watch it, but that was my experience.
Just thought I'd share.
