one quick blurb about my virginia trip then more later when i have time.  i little church, southern baptist i think, had its advertisement out front which read "quit griping about your church, if it was perfect, you couldnt belong.  i almost choked when i read this and thanked God i was able to read this and  be blown away by the insanity that still exists in this world.  it also saddened and maddened me that there are people that still believe this.

"quit griping about your church, if it was perfect, you couldn't belong"  hummm...isn't it the truth though?  it's almost as if the saying on the sign made the churchites shoot themselves in the proverbial foot.  what i get from that sign is a total turn off from going to church because it insinuates i am not perfect therefore i can't belong.  ha ha church sign, i am perfect in God's eyes and i don't need no stink'n church.  also, there must be a lot of griping going around for the sign to command everyone to quit it.  what a turn off.  one last thought, chuch is not perfect, it never will be perfect hence, you should not belong (boy, can i read into things, that's why i struggled so much with standardized tests in school).

Truth of the matter is - we DO belong to the Church and it was all by Hid doing.

define 'the CHURCH" tim p.  don't we just belong to Him?  aren't we the CHURCH, the steeple, the whole darn people?

meek,

Tim's semantics may not seem right to you, but I think that's what he was saying anyways.

Having had recent contact with the "church" it seems to me that the confusion begins when people gathered together in fellowship in Christ decide to obtain a building,a church.the physical building becomes the focal point instead of the body of believers.hence did "you go to church?" instead of we are the church.

Meek,
Yes I did mean what Bill and McDave clarified.  The Church is not a place or building, but rather the called of Jesus Christ, all those who are alive in Christ, whether living or dead physically.
