Hey Jim! I am having trouble loggin on to the new defaulted site[page]. Does this recognize myh old password info or do I need to register all over again with a new email address?[for it is connecting the old address to me still]

You know, I just made the changes in the past hour or so, and I haven't even been able to access it except through the temporary URL, so I'm surprised you have been able to get on so soon. :)

Anyhow, I have had to reset the passwords temporarily. Just use your email address as your password, and then you can change it once you get logged in. :)

BTW, you will probably experience the site going in and out during the course of the day, so don't be surprised. If you have any difficulty, use this temporary link

Yes, that is what I am saying. BTW, you should notice that I just entered a new front page article with the instructions for logging in. :)

Let me know how it goes! :)

PS. I still can't access the site with theshovel.net address. It all has to do with how quickly the network hubs all across the nation and world update their DNS info (Dynamic Name Servers). That basically means that if the network pointers aren't telling your connection which way to go it'll keep trying to go the old route. This should clear up overnight. However, it is very encouraging that you have already accessed it. Go figure, though, as my hosting company is located in Florida. LOL

The site is up and working when I got up this morning. You should be able to log in, though, as I've successfully done so using your info. Are you using your "hartedominic" email address for your password?

Jim I was also able to connect to the Shack through the new webpage as well. I am not sure if that will be the page/link or look that you will use for it in the new but it looks exactly the same as before. Unless of course it is just connecting still to the old?[which I know you made or left a copy for us to use while you were in process]

I m in!

So I take it if I am using my username password to log into the shack, there is a separate log in for the shoveleters that you have to use to log into the new site? i dont think i ever signed up for the shovelleters.

Ron I am absolutely confident the Shovel can get you set up but yes you are right regarding the web page[the new]as  it states that we are to use the pre set ID and Password that is used for the Shoveletter which CAN be different than our already established Shovel.net password/ID. I would suggest PMing Jim.

I looked through the list of usernames on the new shovel site and did not see your name there. In that case, all you need to do is to register a new account so you can login, whether you subscribe to the Shoveletter/Spoonful or not (which can be done through the "My Account" link that will show up after you register and login). Among other features (some not yet implemented), logging in enables you to post comments (as well as view any comments you've made), contact me through a contact form, keep track of articles you haven't read, articles you've rated, and things like that.

Hi Jim,

How does it show that we have or have not read the articles? I am curious! That is going to be a great function

The Shovelshack did not get an overhaul ... yet. THAT will be another huge undertaking! If you had visited the Shack early this morning (my early morning, that is) you would have seen a mess. I had forgotten some of the controlling features of the Shack were linked to the shovel site, and when I deleted theshovel.net from my Windows server and reset it to my Linux server, those files were missing. LOL! I had to track down those files, send them up to the shovelshack folders, and then make the appropriate link connections. Then again, what happens in the kitchen is only known to the cook!!

Two ways:
1) On the front page of the site, you should notice the "Most Recent Posts" block that contains the 5 latest postings (other than Shoveletters and Spoonfuls). When logged in, you will see each article tagged with a red "new" or "updated" next to the post. Once you view it, the tag will go away.
2) There is a tab on the top of the page that says "New Entries". Click it, you will be presented a listing of every article from the newest to the oldest. Each one that you have not viewed will also be tagged "new" or "updated".
