Having gone a few years without what is commonly referred to as "institutional church," I have found a wonderful transformation in my own life, where once I searched for a "place, an it, a thing," now I have found in a Person, and a people, ALONE. This poem describes this people, which people we are. This poem is about you brothers and sisters:

I've heard about a people
God said they'd be around
And I really want to meet them
To share in what they've found

I hear they don't "go to church"
Their thrill is something greater
They really love to BE His Church
The bride of their Creator!

These people don't describe themselves
With some subdividing name
To be His, and His alone
Is all they ever claim.

No priest (by any other name)
Is there to run the show
But as brothers, family, all together
Each daily shares Who they know.

Between "the world" and "things of God"
Their love and life are not divided
All their time and goods are His to use
In the opportunities He's provided.

Daily life with one another
Full of the richness of shadowless Light
Is not just for a "committed nucleus"
But they ALL love Him, with all their might!

None of them are "perfect"
And all will make mistakes
But because of daily, mutual Life
He strengthens the weak, shows the fakes

Their Lord's return is not a point
On which they argue and divide
But in hushed tones of anticipation
They share a deep longing that they can't hide.

That human cry of "Why?" and "How?"
Has been stilled within their soul
By the awesome presence of the great I AM
And the words "In Him you are whole."

Heaven holds for them one special treasure
Not health and wealth from the well-known story
But the seeing of their Lord and Savior
No veil to dim his glory!

His Church will not just "happen"
Time and place? He alone decides
Only He can plant a Lampstand
Where He circulates, and confides.

He gives the gifts to build His home
Architectural gifts, local ones, and you
And while "two or three" delight His heart
A hilltop City is His due!

He wants to have a people
Where He is daily crowned
And in His grace they may be built
Instead of simply found.

Praise His name, He is lifted on high
And you are the people I speak of
I am truly grateful for what you all share
Life in him passed around from Father above!

Ron,

Awesome--really descriptive of the truth of the real living Church, made up of His people.  Thanks for taking the time to share the richness of it with us!!!!!!!  Awesome!!!

Thanks Dave.  Sometimes I get into a frame of mind to write poetry, and last night while creating a poem for a woman's 30th birthday, I was in that frame of mind. Just been flowing with poetic nurture. I wish I could totally be in that frame, because I feel so in tune with life. Oh well.  I am so glad it ministers to your spirit.

Ron

Great poem Ron, it reminded me of something a lady shared at the schoolofChrist workshop in Wilson NC.

Some were sharing about the bombardment of Hebrews 10:25 when answering Father's call to come out, she said that Father told her that He knew her needs including fellowship and she needed to trust Him to supply her with it. Well it sure helped me, I was frustrated with trying to make it happen and it always seemed very strained, but since I started trusting Him I have found that the fellowship is on a whole other level, much, much more life giving, nurturing and loving.
