I wanted to share this quote below with you guys.I thought it was really cool and meaningful. It wasn't meant to poke fun of Sandi at all..but rther to point out the miracle of God's love:
Yesterday "Harvest" ministries had "Sandi Patti" ... famous female gospel composer and singer as the guest speaker on the show. I personally like "Sandi's" voice. I may not agree with many of the lyrics in her songs, but I do like her voice. I don't know how many of you are familiar with "Sandi's" situation. The one she calls "Fallen From Grace" and now has a new book entitled: "Broken At The Last Pew".
Well, "Sandi" shared how she had fallen into temptation by having an affair with another man that eventually cause her divorced. She shared how the affair had affected many areas of her life, and especially her anointed singing and God given gift. How her gift was not the same after sinning against God. How she sensed that God no longer worked through her as effectively after she fell victim to the lies of the devill.
Now "Patty" or "Patti" has written another book how God broke her while sitting in the last pew of a church. She had left her old time church and went to a church where no one would notice her and sat and listened to the sermon while sitting in the very last pew. She said that after the sermon the Pastor made an altar call and how she did not want to go up and be seen, but after a while the pastor said: "You don't have to come up to the altar, God will meet you where you are at".
"Sandi" said that she had felt better about what pastor said and that led her to write the new book: "Broken In The Last Pew". Friends, it had to be guilt, feelings of failure, shame, condemnation & fear that led "Sandi" to leave her long time home church. Isn't that what most people (Christians) do when they feel they have done something wrong and are led to believe that their wrong has caused them to fall from Grace? That's where the doctrine of "saved, lost, saved" comes in.
Had "Sandi" known about how the curse of the law of sin and death had been broken once and for all at the cross of Christ, she would not have gone through so many years and years of pain, heartache, guilt, fear, condemnation and self examination. Friends, our sins were not broken at the Pew. They were broken at the cross. As long as we are under a religious Evangelical doctrine of sin consciousness, we will live a desperate life of anxiety worry, fear, and doubting as to whether or not God has forgiven us of things we CONTINUE to do wrong.
This is what separates the Gospel of God's Grace and Peace from the Gospel of works. Under the Gospel of religious legalistic works, the moment one falls into some sort of immoral act, at that very moment we begin to believe that God is no longer happy with us, doesn't love us and won't use us like He once did. Friends, it was Jesus that God used because He knew that at any given moment we would fall to feelings of guilt, fear and condemnation.
Had "PattI' known these things she would not have had to go through so much religious counseling of having to repent, confess and beg God to forgive her. It is wonderful to know that as human we can fall short of doing anything right on a daily basis and still go on thanking God that He is no longer angry with anyone and as far as the east is from the west and Puerto Rico from Japan... our sins He remembers no more. Thank God that the entire world... Christian and Non Christian were forgiven at the cross and not at the pew.
