i may be understating it to the max, but i think that byron katie shares some very wonderful and helpful rational thinking skills.  i appreciate that.  i have often thought a good rational thinking class would do me good as i have to live and function in this world.  there is no denying the helpfulness and usefulness of what she shares with folks here in our country and all over the world.  i am sure that many people peer into all that she says for the main purpose of 'labeling' her ... just as people do here concerning the shovel and the shack and those who share here ... it is the nature of the mind of the world to do so.    i suppose even my own quick little description of 'rational thinking skills' is a label.    i only mean it to be a description, but that is what labels attempt to do as well, isn't it?

no, i am not saying that everyone who comes here to find a label for us has the 'mind of the world'.    i just think perhaps those who have the mind of christ are still effected by and visited by many memories (lack of better word) of a lot of conditioned thinking that was adopted and adapted to while passing through and living in this world.

it seems that the deeper we become immersed into the perceived need to entertain even the possibility of satisfying  the swarming and suffocating demands and expectations of our own inner thoughts and imaginations, not to mention all the outward influences upon those thoughts and imaginations, the farther away we can drift from any reasonable, sound, rational, sane thinking.

as a nation of peoples, i think we have succumbed to that bondage in a very real way.  we have drifted so far that for the most part we no longer even think for ourselves.  we allow the powers that be to do our thinking and decision making for us in all the various, creative, influential ways that they do.  that includes being deceived by many meticulously spun lies.

life can be so demanding and complicated these days, who has the time, energy and luxury of 'thinking-things-through'?   that is what is demanded of us, but the resources and TIME to do so carefully and responsibly are not always there, are they?  had we had the help of more or different information supplied to us at any given time, PLUS the TIME ... we might have even made different decisions than the ones we made according to whatever information we did have at the time alotted.

if there is one thing we have LOTS of these days it is INFORMATION!  sadly, even with all that information there are still those who will persistently attempt to control the availability of opposition and challenges to the information they want us to have   in order to amass control, power, fame, riches  and/or dot dot dot ... fill in the blank.

then of course, all of that is even more complicated for those of us who can't quickly and easily make a decision one way or the other ... the more choices, the harder the decision.    (that would be me, for instance.)      and i LIKE to have choices and more choices ... variety, etc.

my point?  hmmm ... did i have one when i began?     where might i be going with this?    your guess may be better than mine.     where is my mind anyway ...

my heart is simply rejoicing inwardly for the mind of christ ... that mind which is always sound and exactly as god desires ... always acceptable ... generously supplied in his son ... in whom we find our life ... New Creation Life!

as wonderful, helpful, useful and freeing as rational-thinking-skills may be for the mind of the world to function in the world the best it can, i desire to speak to and from that mind who is miraculously and intricately united as one with the very mind of god himself ... a mind that knows the mind of god and is linked directly to him and his heart ... a mind shared with the son of god himself ... a mind that requires no proof, no validation, no justification ... a mind that is at true peace with him ... a mind that is known by him ...
a mind that IS and WAS and ALWAYS shall be ... a mind that can never be and will never be explained away to the satisfaction of the mind of the world.

no, i am not de-bunking byron katie ... i really like her ... i love how she challenges others to challenge thoughts that are filled with deception and bondage ... to free-up from the bondage of particular thoughts and imaginations that can cause such unnecessary pain and weight and burden ... to free-up from that which lies to and has lied to for a lonnnng time, resulting in paralysis in one way or another - emotional, physical, psychological, mental, etc.  truly much can be learned from her.

i like what our friend sir stevenson from the isle of man likes about her ... she asks the question basically, 'who told you that', but in a different way.    she encourages the question 'is that true'? and  'can it be proven to be true'?  etc.

the great thing about the mind of christ is that it is a mind that is always truth ... truth that is god's truth ...
truth that man seeks anywhere and everywhere except the very source of truth who is a person ... the person of christ himself.  truth that can only be revealed in the person of truth himself, jesus christ.

the mind of god speaks to and from the mind of god ... it is a miraculous mind indeed ... a union of ONE mind, as opposed to many minds.

Sherri before you wrote this today I had written in Journal form the following:

"Are you "working" knowledge? Or are you happily rested in Working Knowledge?"

He who is truly working says: "rest". Whatever I find myself in, bad or good, I can rest in He who has my good always in His grasp.

i was just thinking yesterday about how byron asks people:

'who would you be without that thought'.  now i think i 'get' what she means, but i was just wondering if  perhaps there was a better way to ask the question ... like 'how are you with that thought'?  do you know what i mean?

i may be 'hopping down a bunny trail' with all this, but ... help me think it through?

who we are with any thought is still who we are, right?  a thought does not make us who we are, but i do understand how a thought can effect how we are and what we may think our identity is and therefore how we may act, behave, function, etc.

in other words, do our thoughts make us a certain person, or do our thoughts effect how we treat the person we are and what we do with the person we are?

is a person the sum total of his thoughts?  is a person the sum total of his behavior?  who IS a person?  maybe those are the questions i have this morning?

would enjoy reading your thoughts ... maybe i will discover WHO you really are.     (being silly

i know we discuss these things off and on all the time, but ... it can be fun to re-visit and re-vive.

i will think on those things today while i am off and about running errands and getting ready for a quick trip with my wonderful hubby to texas (leaving saturday a.m.) to check on my mom and spend a little time with my brother.  i don't know if my brother will have any computer access, so you may or may not hear from us for a little while.  nothing new, right?     we will still miss not being able to pop in on the shack and 'read' you guys.

hugs ...

Have a good trip.

What do you see when you look at me? Not the visible me that your eyes can see. For in Christ I am dead, yet alive and free. Free to be it all, as he lives in me.

Trip envy, eh?  Is that the same as vacation vexation? Well, at least I won't hold it against you.
