... concerning being at home in christ ... what does that mean to you?   maybe more the question is, what does it mean to you to 'go home'?  maybe they are two questions?  maybe one?

these questions are being stirred in my brain-pan right now by a really lovely song that a dear friend sent me.  you can listen to it on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zI3lXSOt3c      <- i hope you can just click it and it will 'take you there'.

the music is beautiful ... the guitars, the voices, the harmonies .... everything about the song is quite touching and moving.  maybe you will enjoy SOME-thing out of it.  i can't quit listening to it, and i need to go to bed and get some sleep!

Very nice song. I enjoy Mercy Me whenever I have
heard them for the most part.

I was thinking about your questions Sherr. In my
heart, I have always realized that the only real
home I have is in Christ. I know that can sound like
a great Christian phrase and or concept but, it is
always how I have felt deep inside.[and it is said
with my inner man] Even in the midst of severe and
very serious confusion I have always longed for home
were things are not clouded and are as they really
are in Him. We only 'loose' our way when we follow
after the vein knowledge that exists in the
flesh..we never are actually lost. We know the
Way..and He will deliver us safely to His
kingdom....and I look forward to any possible
clarity of what that means even here on this earth
too but, that He can do as well.

Wow, thanks for the link Sherri. It is moving. Without my even thinking about it, the tears just started flowing. A beautiful tribute to love.

War is so not what people want, but it's what has to be done.

People just want to have normal, boring lives where they're free to love each other. Love requires sacrifice. God Bless those who are willing to give that sacrifice for the rest of us.

"... the only real home I have is in Christ." <-adam

most excellent ... at home in christ ... at home with christ ... at home because of christ ... at home by christ ... wherever we are ... for now, for  always, and forever more ... temporarily confined in a mortal shell, but the life within is eternal and 'one' with god, creator and word of life who is life.

"War is so not what people want ..." <-connie bright-light

so true ...

except for:  the war-mongers of and in this world who absolutely love it, live for it, strive for it,
thrive on it, plan/devise it, force it, control it, etc.  it is their very nature, drive, their very heart, soul, mind and being.  and of course, we know from whom it is derived/sourced.  sadly so many are made scapegoats, pawns, deceived, manipulated, used, and victimized by them.  sighhh ...

and yes, i know it is more complicated and detailed than that ... that is only 'part' of it ... 'part' of a whole picture, story, master plan, etc.

just stuff that regurgitated again from ... wherever ... i don't even know ....      ... maybe extreme tiredness and weariness, low blood sugar, hormones?????

so true, too connie ... about love sacrificing ... love really does, doesn't it.

i was thinking how love sacrifices, yet also sacrifice is not always love.  i don't know where that thought came from either, but ...

i think i just need to go to bed .....

nighty night ... gotta listen to that song again before i go ... so glad that you who enjoyed it enjoyed it.    (did that make any sense?)

really ... good night ...

P.S.

"I enjoy Mercy Me whenever I have
heard them for the most part." <-adam

me, too adam.  they are really quite awesome musicians ... i enjoy them very much.

Hi Sherr,

I liked that you pointed this out:
"i was thinking how love sacrifices, yet also
sacrifice is not always love. i don't know where
that thought came from either, but ... "-Dignz

Maybe it came from the living wisdom you learned in
Christ? I mean I have always seen the difference
between what we praise as 'sacrifice' in the flesh
and something of God. I am not saying we can not be
thankful for various things that exist in the world,
but to praise according to the flesh only sets up
comparisons.

This was very sound too:

most excellent ... at home in christ ... at home
with christ ... at home because of christ ... at
home by christ ... wherever we are ... for now, for
always, and forever more ... temporarily confined in
a mortal shell, but the life within is eternal and
'one' with god, creator and word of life who is
life. "-Dignz

thank you so much..I love when you post.

I had an 'experience' when I went up to Duluth a month ago to the area where my family lived.  They are all 'gone' now, but the vastness of Lake Superior, the lighthouse, the trees, the familiarity of it all, calmed me.   I walked on the beach and fed the seagulls, an experience I had with Jim in Florida that will forever enliven my heart.  I remember I wept that day, for the pure love that swept my heart that day.   I sat at a desk in a warmly decorated 'log cabin' motel room while Dave slept, and watched an ore boat entering the harbor.  Reflections which came as a Facebook status:

" I used to think that God's Life attended to me at the altar I knelt by.  How wrong I was, His Life is within me and His Love follows me wherever I go."

At home in Christ means so much more to me than my 'humble' words could adequately express, but it's the union of my spirit with His, the Love of a Father who restored loss with the restoration of my soul, and the comfort ability of His presence wherever I am.

My sister's granddaughter, Adrian, was killed in a car accident in August of 2004, only days after her 17th birthday.  She has been described by those who knew her as "a brilliant burst of starlight to reflect God's awesome presence in our midst."  She loved the Lord with all her heart.  This topic, Being at Home in Christ, made me think of her.  At home in Christ, her fondest place to be.  The year before she died she wrote the following poem ...

Journey's End

The road leads ever, ever on
Winding past my weary feet
Past the mountains out my door
Until my journey's end I meet.

Though light I see a dark must fall,
In depths of long, forgotten dales.
The sky is black, a cold wind blows
But in the end the dark must fail.

Then starlight bright as morning sun
Will light my path till once again,
I see that glorious citadel
In Heaven at my journey's end.

For there awaits me bright and fair,
And seated on His silver throne,
The beacon through my darkest nights,
My one and only, my heart's own.

Judy! It is so wonderful to see you on the Shack again!!

Thank you for giving us this look into the life of your sister's granddaughter. It is precious. It's wonderful to have such great memories of departed family members.

Love, Jim

"Finally Home" That truly is an inspirational and
heart felt song. Part of it's beauty is in the
simplicity of it all. Also, we can all relate to it
in our own journey here on earth...looking forward to
being with the Lord in heaven someday....but in the
meantime we are still in a real battle in this life
and there are also real casualties of those we know
and love.

words to Mercy Me's Finally Home

I'm gonna wrap my arms around my daddy's neck and tell him that I've missed him
and tell him all about the man that i became and hope that it pleased him
there's so much i want to say
there's so much i want you to know.

[chorus]  When i finally make it home when i finally make it home.

Then I'll gaze upon the throne of the King frozen in my steps
and all the questions that i swore i would ask words just won't come yet
so amazed at what I've seen so much more than this old mind can hold.

[back to chorus]

And the sweetest sound my ears have yet to hear voices of the angels.

[back to chorus]

i don't know if they mean literally hugging their earthly fathers neck, or figuratively meaning god.  if they mean god and he is their father, then why do they think they have ever been separated from him to have to fill him in on their lives up to the point they are face to face with him as if he was not there?  i do not know the writer or writers, so i do not know.  but this is how i once viewed my relationship with god ... separated and needing to somehow become something for him to be proud of ... like an earthly father.

perhaps when we see him face to face, the questions will no longer exist, just as even now .. the more we get to know our assurance in him, they fall away ... or are seen as not as important as they once were.

i still really love the music, harmonies, instruments!  :)  the words are kind of lost to me tho'.  i could once relate with them, but ... now ... not.  voices of angels might be truly awesome, yet ... until we hear them, god has given some humans pretty awesome voices, too. :)

i so LOVE what you guyz have shared here about what 'home' with god means to you.  it is so encouraging to say the least!  :)
